Rocklin Urgent Care Clinic: Training for Your First Obstacle Race

As you probably know, getting at least 60 minutes of cardiovascular activity a week is crucial to maintaining overall health. But if you’re the type of runner who’s already mastered your daily running routine and has a few five-kilometer runs under your belt, perhaps it’s time to join the third annual Rocklin Ramble 5K obstacle course this April 30. Unlike your typical running event, obstacle races will have you climbing walls, jumping over hurdles, and even swinging across mud pits on top of the usual sprinting. Since these events are a notch or two above what you’re used to, Rocklin urgent care centers suggest properly training for them to log a respectable finish time and to avoid injuries. Warm Up First This should go without saying, but always warm up before proceeding with your training. Doing a bit of stretching, for example, can help reduce the likelihood of getting cramps or pulling a muscle.
